"Every year, rice farmers burn leftover straw after harvest. That burning causes enormous air pollution. At the same time, millions of trees are cut down just to make paper we use once and throw away. Paddy changes both problems at once."
Why it matters: Every year 731M tons of rice straw is burned. We take it before it's burned and turn it into soft 3-ply toilet paper. No trees cut.
